Di-μiodido-bis{[hydroxy(methoxy)bis(2-pyridyl)methane- κ³ N,O,N′]iodidocadmium(II)}

In the centrosymmetric dinuclear title compound, [Cd₂I ₄(C₁₂H₁₂N₂O₂) ₂], two -I atoms bridge two Cd^II atoms and each Cd ^II atom is also bonded to a terminal I atom and a hy-droxy-meth-oxy-bis-(2-pyrid-yl)methane ligand, which functions in an N,O,N′-tridentate mode, resulting in a distorted octa-hedral coordination environment. Inter-molecular O - H⋯I hydrogen bonds and π-π stacking inter-actions between the pyridine rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.790 (2) Å] are present in the crystal structure.
