Synthesis, characterization, thermal analyses and crystal structure of a new Thorium(IV) nitrate complex: [phen.H]₂[Th(NO₃) ₆].2H₂O

The reaction of Th(NO₃)₄.4H₂O with phen (phen = 1,10- phenanthroline) in 0.5 M aqouse HNO₃, led to the [phen.H]₂[Th(NO₃)₆].2H₂O complex (1). This complex was characterized by elemental analysis, IR and ¹H NMR spectroscopy, and single-crystal X-ray determination. Crystal data for 1 at 20°C are monoclinic, space group P2₁/n, a = 15.3967(14), b = 14.7923(10), c = 15.7878(13) Å, β = 109.123(7)°, Z = 4, and R1 = 0.0421.
