Synthesis, characterization, thermal analyses, crystal structure determination, and luminescent properties of a new indium(III) complex: [In(4,4″-dtbu-2,2″-bipy)Cl₃(DMSO)].2DMSO

[In(4,4″-dtbu-2,2″-bipy)Cl₃(DMSO)].2DMSO (1) complex was obtained from the reaction of 1 equivalent of InCl₃.4H ₂O with 1 equivalent of 4,4′-di-tert-butyl-2,2′- bipyridine (4,4′-dtbu-2,2′-bipy) in a methanol solution. This compound was recrystallized in a DMSO/methanol solution to obtain suitable crystals for X-ray studies. This complex was characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UVVis, ¹H NMR, ¹³C{¹H} NMR, and luminescence spectroscopy and its structure was studied by the single-crystal diffraction method. The thermal stability of 1 was studied by thermal gravimetric (TG) and differential thermal analyses (DTA). Copyright © Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
