Mononuclear and binuclear platinium(II) complexes containing 1-methyl-1H-1,2,3,4-tetrazole-5-thiol ligand: Synthesis, characterization and single crystal X-ray determination

The complex {[H₂en][Pt(mtzt)₄].(H₂O)} (1) (where Hmtzt is 1-methyl-1H-1,2,3,4-tetrazole-5-thiol and en is ethylenediamine)was synthesized fromthe reaction ;of Hmtzt and en with K₂PtCl₄ in mixture of CH₃OH/H₂O (2:1). The complex [Pt₂(μ-mtzt)₄] (2) was synthesized by the same procedure as described for preparation of complex 1 in the absence of ethylenediamine. Both complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, IR,¹H NMR, UV-Vis, and luminescence spectroscopy and their structures were identified by single-crystal X-ray diffraction method. The X-ray structure determinations show that complex 1 is a mononuclear compound while complex 2 has a binuclear structure in a paddle-wheel fashionwith Pt-Pt distance of 2.8190(5)Å. © 2017, Taylor & Francis Group, LLC
